Adriaen Brouwer Dark Gold
This Adriaen Brouwer, which is re-fermented in the bottle, is surprisingly complex. The nose of this Oudenaarde Brown beer features malt, caramel and dry fruit, with the merest hint of acidity. The finish is bitter-sweet, and the alcohol adds a warm glow. A balanced beer with a full mouth-feel. Could the painter and bon vivant Adriaen Brouwer have wished for anything more?
Nose/aromas: Pure malt, a trace of caramel and rock sugar, dark fruit (plums) and dried fruits.
Flavour: Full-bodied and warm, pleasant sweet attack with a trace of caramel, slight hint of coffee followed immediately by a lovely fruity touch and slight acidity, culminating in an uncomplicated, balanced finish.
